The founders
Jacob and Abraham Adberstein on why Reflekt exists and how they work with the firms that use it.

A letter from the founders
My brother Abraham and I have been a team for as long as either of us can remember. We grew up together in Mexico City, where chess took us both to international tournaments representing Mexico.
We grew up on American movies from the eighties and became firm believers in the American dream: if you work hard and build something people value, there is room for you. Since we were teenagers, we have been building technology together, one venture after another. Not all of them worked, but each one taught us something we could not have learned any other way.
Our careers took us into very different rooms. I worked on complex integrated systems in NASA’s robotics division, where everything has to perform as designed, every time. Abraham worked in cybersecurity at Cloudflare, where he came to understand human behavior the way an engineer does: how people act, what they trust, and what makes them walk away. Together, we learned what it takes to build something people can rely on.
Those years kept bringing us back to the same place. The most important moment in any business is when someone first reaches out, and nowhere does it matter more than at a law firm. For a long time, growing a front office was something only the largest firms could afford. We believe AI employees change that, and that with them even a solo practice can punch like a large firm. So we left our jobs to start Reflekt. Our mother was not thrilled. Our father asked for a spreadsheet.
We have never loved the terms “voice bot” or “voice agent.” What we build is an employee, an extension of your firm that sounds like you and reflects who you are. Making that hold up at two in the morning with a frightened caller who only speaks Spanish takes serious engineering and knowing how people want to be treated. We hold ourselves to both.
Most people who call a law firm are having one of the hardest days of their lives, and each of them has a story to tell. We want every one of them to be heard, and we want every firm, whatever its size, to offer the kind of care that used to belong only to the biggest names.
Today we partner with firms across the United States and Canada from our home in Austin, building AI employees that understand human nuance and perform at scale. We have always been an army of two. Reflekt is how we show up for firms the way we have always shown up for each other.

Practical guides on digitalizing your reception and intake departments

Yes, if built for family law: a calm tone, a conflict check before any facts, consult booking and fee collection on the call.

Mostly no. Callers react to going unanswered, sitting on hold, or repeating themselves, not to AI itself. Clio found 39% of firm calls went to voicemail.

Why callers are not rejecting AI at law firms; they are reacting to poor intake systems that make them feel unheard, dropped, or forced to repeat themselves.
